Birdman Pleads No Contest To Weed Charges, Sentenced To Probation & Fine

According to the Kingsport Times-News, Birdman appeared in Kingsport General Sessions Court on Friday (October 17) for possessing less than half an ounce of marijuana stemming from an arrest in November 2007, when his RV was pulled over and inspected.

Baby and each member of his crew received a suspended sentence of 11 months and 29 days probation and were forced to pay $905 in fines and court costs. Associates Norman Cobins and George Beatty were both issued warrants for felony failure after not appearing for their scheduled court date.

The driver of the vehicle also pleaded no contest and received a sentence of six months unsupervised probation along with a $100 fine and court costs.

According to TMZ, promoter Jose Fernandez has filed a lawsuit against the rapper and his associates after paying over a quarter of a million dollars for a November 2007 concert in New Orleans that never took place that was then re-scheduled twice, once in January and the next in March but were each no-shows.

"As a direct and proximate result of the the breach of contract, Plaintiffs have been damaged in a sum in excess of $275,000," the suit reads "Plaintiffs are unaware of the exact amount of their damages, but will amend this Complaint to state the true amount to conform to proof at time of trial."

The lawsuit also files for damages of money had and received claiming no payment was made to Fernandez since giving the advance to Birdman. He is currently seeking rewards for special, general and punitive damages plus attorney fees.
