Dipset Associate King Tut Reportedly Commits Suicide In Police Showdown

Dipset associate Darnell "King Tut" Brittingham reportedly committed suicide after a confrontation with police took place in Upstate New York last night (March 17).

The fatal incident reportedly took place while he was being approached by police.

Police say he killed himself in a taxi as suburban New York officers closed in on him. Greenburgh, N.Y., Lt. Chris McNerney says the cab carrying Brittingham was pulled over by police Tuesday night. McNerney says police ordered everyone out. The driver and a woman left the cab, but Brittingham refused. McNerney says that as police converged, Brittingham shot himself in the head. The lieutenant said Wednesday that Brittingham had been under surveillance since Hackensack police learned he was at a Greenburgh motel. (Associated Press)

Tut was reportedly released last month from drug charges but was a prime suspect in another crime.

He was freed on $25,000 bail early Thursday (February 12). Authorities say the Weaverville, North Carolina resident is the prime suspect in stabbing a woman seven times in a Hackensack apartment yesterday afternoon. They say the victim is expected to live. Her name has not been released. Police continue to look for Brittingham. (1010 Wins News)

Police arrested the rapper earlier that week.

Upon inspection, police found multiple forms of drugs throughout the car.

Police uncovered plastic bags of marijuana and a half ounce of cocaine stuffed inside the toy bear, Captain Joseph Zevitz said. A digital scale and plastic bags used for drug packaging and distribution were also found. Both were charged with manufacturing/distribution or intent to manufacture/distribute a controlled dangerous substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were taken to the Bergen County Jail where King Tut was being held on $25,000 bail and Buckley on $15,000 bail. (North Jersey)
