As the first artist to emerge on John Legend's new imprint, Homeschool/Atlantic Records, Estelle has already fallen victim to vicious gossip blogs. Here, the British songstress addresses the rumors that her label heads asked her to fix her teeth and get rid of her "tomboy hair."
Recently, a story circulated on the internet claiming Atlantic Records executives were demanding that the London born artist change her image. Estelle denies the claims and says that she and her label execs have gotten a kick out of the rumors.

"Everyone at my record label called me up and laughed," she told SOHH. "They know me. I came with a look. I came with my style and they were grateful. They were like, 'Thank God we don't got to worry about putting you in a pair of pants or giving you a weave.'" [Watch Below]
Estelle blames the press for perpetuating the rumors though she acknowledges that the brand new set of braces that she's sporting has added fuel to the fire. "I think because I got braces everyone said the label said it," she explained. "I been trying to get braces since 2000 and I finally did it. I figured let me get them endorsement deals." "But no, it was just something that I've always wanted to do," she added. "If people did their research on me on a real level they'd know that no one tells me what to do, ask John Legend." As for the "tomboy" hair, Estelle assures SOHH that she has no plans to Beyonc-ify her style. "I've had the number one in the UK for four weeks like this, with my hair like this. I don't put those obstacles up. I feel like if you put them up that's you making barriers for yourself and I don't do that." Estelle's album, Shine, features production by Swizz Beatz, Wyclef Jean and Mark Ronson and an appearance by Kanye West and John Legend. It hits stores Tuesday, April 29.
