Jay-Z Announces Plans To Hit The Big Screen

Jay-Z has explained his plans to make an impression on the film industry and why he's been careful about his Hollywood move.

While keeping details scarce, the rapper said his goal would be to have a hand in multiple movie projects and stick around for the long haul.

"I do, I do," Hov said about making his run in Hollywood. "I'm taking my time. It may seem like it's taking forever, but when I do, it's gonna be something added to the genre. I just don't wanna do a couple movies and be gone. I want it to be something that's really important, so I'm taking my time with it. Hopefully when I arrive [in Hollywood], I can leave a footprint." The rapper recently showcased his acting skills with a cameo in Fabolous' "When The Money Goes" music video.

"So you good," Jay asks Fab in the video. "You took care of all the last minute, details, you know, whatever you had to take care of on the business end. That is what it is, you know, you should just focus on doing what you gotta do because sometimes the best way to see a person is not at 'em. Right? [laughs] And if you're looking at 'em, you be on your best behavior, so, she should be all right though. ("When The Money Goes")

He also partnered with renowned film director Spike Lee for a 10th Anniversary Rocawear advertisement.

Has it really been 10 years since Rocawear first launched? Well with Jay-Z celebrating a decade of his own clothing line, Hov enlisted Spike Lee to shoot the advertisements celebrating his 10 years in the clothing game. Hit the jump to see more flicks from the shoot. (The Source)

Aside from acting, Hov recently outlined his top status as one of rap's elite emcees in the upcoming October 2009 XXL Magazine.

"But when I say I'm the best, I don't say that outta my a**," Jay said in the interview. "I say that with all my stats behind me. I put that against anybody. I mean anybody. I really believe that...I believe in a lot of things. I believe that "SportsCenter" is the best thing on TV. I shouldn't have to prove it. But I do have these stats to prove it. I'm talking about real run. I'm not talking about years off. I'm talking about straight--boom, boom, boom--back to back. We're not talking about heritage acts either. We're not talking about respect what I've done. I'm talking No. 1 [albums] 10 times. The Beatles is the only one [to have more No. 1 albums]. They got 19, and if I get a surge of creativity, I could make nine albums next year." (XXL Magazine)
