KRS-One & DJ Premier Headline BK Hip-Hop Festival

Legendary emcee KRS-One and iconic producer DJ Premier will take the stage at the 2008 Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival this July.

KRS and Premo aren't the only notables who will be performing. BK's own Buckshot will join the two headliners on stage at the annual three-day event.

"I have always maintained that KRS-One is the greatest MC of all time," said the Fetival's executive director Wes Jackson, in a statement. "Content, lyricism, cultural impact, longevity. There is no one better."

KRS has forged a trail blazing career over the span of two decades with enlightening classics and notable hits like "Criminal Minded," "Edutainment" and "Return of the Boom Bap."

As previously reported, this summer KRS will be re-launching the Stop The Violence Movement, his initiative to combat inner city violence. Brooklyn Bodega and The Brooklyn Hip-Hop Festival will also be working with the Stop the Violence Movement on their summer calendar.

Co-headlining act DJ Premier has created his own place in hip-hop as one half of Gang Starr, as well as his work with such artists as The Notorious B.I.G., Jay-Z, Nas, M.O.P., Mos Def, Jadakiss, Common, Snoop Dogg and Jeru da Damaja, among others.

Tickets for July 12th are available online at brooklynbodega.com as well as Fat Beats, located at 406 Ave of the Americas (6th Ave between 8th and 9th Streets) in Manhattan.

The remaining lineup and details on additional events, including the official after party, are expected to be released next week.
