Michael Jackson's "This Is It" Single Debuts Online

The late Michael Jackson's memory continues to live on as a new single called "This Is It" has debuted online and will be featured on the singer's upcoming double disc album.

The track reportedly has a combination of tones and sounds from Jackson's earlier work.

This is it, MJ fans -- the first posthumous single from the King of Pop, pegged to his upcoming two-disc CD and concert documentary of the 50-date London stand that he didn't live to complete. If you think the mid-tempo ballad, with its fingersnaps, soaring chorus and big-build strings, sounds like classic Michael, you'd actually be right -- the song supposedly comes from sessions for his 1991 album Dangerous. The album's co-producer John McClain described the new song's value.

"This song only defines, once again, what the world already knows -- that Michael is one of God's greatest gifts," said John McClain, co-producer of the album and an executor of Jackson's estate. It will be available to buy as part of the two-disc album "This Is It" which hits the shelves internationally on October 26 and in North America on October 27 to coincide with the global release of the Jackson movie of the same name on October 28. A Los Angeles judge previously approved Sony Pictures Entertainment's request to use over 80 hours of Michael Jackson footage for the movie.

Sony Pictures Entertainment received court approval to bring Michael Jackson to the big screen. The court's authorization, announced Monday in Probate Court by Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff, allows them to edit more than 80 hours of rehearsal and behind-the-scenes footage into a movie. The deal was negotiated last month by Sony Pictures and its sibling unit, Sony Music Entertainment, with the Michael Jackson Estate and AEG Live, producer of the late singer's planned London concert series. The film, like the concerts, will be called This Is It. (Los Angeles Times)

Jackson recently made headlines for reportedly being involved in Jay-Z's "Girls, Girls, Girls" 2001 hit.

In the new issue of NME Jay-Z pays tribute to fallen legend Michael Jackson, and in doing so he revealed a piece of music history that until now was unknown. According to the Brooklyn rapper, Jackson sang on "Girls, Girls, Girls" on the original Blueprint album. "He was on my song 'Girls, Girls, Girls', singing these background vocals and I didn't even put his name on it," Jay wrote. (XXL Mag)
