Prison Denies Foxy Brown Received Star Treatment; Investigation Begins |

The New York Corrections Department has issued a statement denying that Brooklyn rapper Foxy Brown received preferential treatment, while incarcerated on Rikers Island for violating her probation.
According to a report in The New York Post, prison officials hung out in the rapper’s cell, brought her meals and make up, and gave her unlimited TV and phone privileges while she was serving nine months for violating her probation in several high profile assault cases in 2006. Brown even conducted a photo shoot for XXL magazine during her stay. Department Spokesman Stephen Morello confirmed that Brown was allowed to wear expensive clothes and that the interview with XXL was within prison guidelines.

"Inmates were entitled to wear their own clothing. That's her choice," Morello said. "The interviews were approved by the (Department of Correction's) Department of Media Services. We do it as a matter of routine."
According to an article last week in The New York Post, select prisoners in the jail received special privileges. Last week, Correction chief Peter Curcio resigned, along with the prison’s Rabbi Leib Glanz, after an investigation revealed that they had arranged an expensive Bar Mitzvah for an inmates son in another New York prison. The Manhattan’s District attorney is also probing into Imam Umar Abdul-Jalil, along with two other Imam’s. The three are accused of facilitating Brown’s star treatment while she was in prison. | |||||||||
