RZA On Raekwon, Method Man & Ghostface LP

Wu-Tang Clan leader RZA has shared his reaction to Raekwon, Method Man and Ghostface Killah possible joint album and said he fully supports the movement.

From RZA's perspective, the project is long overdue.

"I think it's a great idea," RZA said of Raekwon, Ghostface and Method Man teaming up. "I was pushing that idea to them years ago. Back in the day, we was gonna have a branch called 'The Brothers From the Grain' that was kinda those guys right there. I'm gonna see Meth tonight in the studio to see if I could add on something to that project. Add some depth to it. They are three of the most prolific voices in Wu-Tang...We're at a period of life, if anybody from Wu-Tang needs me, I'm there for them. Everybody has grown and matured to where we don't need each other." (MTV)

Acknowledging Mef and Ghost as Def Jam artists, Raekwon recently described his problems with not being a member of the record label.

"Right now, I run my own record company," Raekwon said in an interview. "I'm my own Def Jam. So for me to sit here and look at what we're gonna do to help they business, they company? It's like, it has to be done correctly... Everything is just word of mouth. People just excited about it and it put me in a situation like, 'Okay, these are my brothers. These are the dudes I came up in the game with.' I could never tell 'em no. Def Jam? That's they home, so I kinda see why they wanna do it there, that's who helps them make their money, Def Jam. Def Jam don't help me make my money. But at the end of the day, I can't take nothing away from Def Jam, because they been supporting Wu-Tang in one way or another. Whether they had Ghostface or Method Man, they helped all of our careers at some point... If it was my idea, I would want to do it an independent way because we would be owners of the album." Raekwon also spoke with SOHH about the possibility of a joint album coming together over the summer.

"That'd be beautiful," Raekwon reflected. "A Ghostface, Method Man and Raekwon album, that'd be exciting. That'd be something that, it'd be mean though. Like I said, I can never front on them dudes' swords, they ill with it. My thing is that when we do it, we gotta be in full-fledge ownership to that project because I feel like that's something people is really gonna go out and get and we have to recognize we're the new label, we're the new industry too. If it go down, I just wanna make sure all the 'I's' are dotted, 'T's' is crossed so we'll know at the end of the day we're making this money for our family. But it's all good, that'd be a mean album. Mef got his bounce, Ghost got his bounce, I got my bounce. Still would want to have the Clan on there, of course, but hey, if we gonna do it, let's do it. I just wanna do it right." (SOHH)

Raekwon hinted at the possibility of dropping more albums before year's end via Twitter over the summer.

"Peace yall just seen the last visual of the Walk wit me video and its classic," he wrote via Twitter yesterday (July 6). "will be giving ya a teaser real soon! In the booth just recording some new records ya know i might drop 3lps before this yrs out i got to catch up But its bout OB4CL2 RIGHT NOW! Im just putting myself back where i belong! And that on Top! Yea but who heard bout that Mef, GHOST & RAE ALBUM, wht ya think bout that!" (Raekwon's Twitter)
