Saigon & Joe Budden Join D-Block & Jim Jones With Move To E1 Music

Rappers Saigon and Joe Budden will release their upcoming Amalgam Digital albums through E1 Music after the popular online company announced inking a deal for both artists' new projects yesterday (August 18).

Sai will be first in line as his Warning Shots 2 is set to drop a month prior to Budden's upcoming album.

E1 Music, formerly known as Koch Records, has signed a deal with online label and promotional company Amalgam Digital to release new studio and catalog albums by hip-hop artists Saigon and Joe Budden. The first release under the new deal will be Saigon's Warning Shots 2, slated for a September 29th, 2009 street date. A new studio album by Joe Budden is tentatively scheduled for release in October 2009. Budden's Amalgam debut was Padded Room, released earlier this year, which sold 28,000 copies. Saigon, who was signed to Atlantic Records but never released an album through the label, released Warning Shots last year through Amalgam, selling 21,000 units. (Billboard)

Budden previously gave Saigon, his former rap rival, props for joining Amalgam Digital last spring.

"I don't feel anything," Joey explained in a video last March. "I don't know if he signed there for the same exact reasons that I signed there. It was a great business move on their behalf because if Joe Budden is leaving Amalgam, and they have Peedi Crakk, I'm not sure when his album's coming out, and you got Max B whose tied up in some type of litigation. The same way Joe Budden is gonna come right back and put an album out to build off of Padded Room hype, Amalgam would need to come right back with a project whether it be a Joe Budden project or whatever project it'll be. So, they needed to sign someone. I texted Saigon today and told him congratulations. I told him good move." (Cop Shop Hip Hop)

Sai announced his business venture with Amalgam earlier this year.

"Did I sign a traditional recording deal with Amalgam Digital as an artist," he wrote in a blog posting. "The answer is NO... What I AM doing with Amalgam Digital is entering a unique, never been done before business venture where they help market promote and distribute some of my many projects...First of all, Amalgam Digital is NOT a record company but a New Media outfit...They seen my creative vision, believe in my vision and we entered into a non-exclusive partnership that will bring it all to life....I am nobody's artist." E1 is known for showcasing popular artists including D-Block and Jim Jones, who recently spoke on his A&R position at the company.

"The A&R gig is really good," Jones said in an interview. "We've got a lot going on over there. I've got a new artist called Dorrough. His songs are doing pretty good across the country. Webstar did a duet album with me that's got 'Dancing On Me.' D-Block just dropped an album. Shout out to [DJ] Khaled too. They've got a strong roster. They recognize all the money I've made them and all of the moves I've made throughout the years over the course of our relationship. They understand the way I have to work. Freedom is definitely a must for me to get the best quality of product that's usually a hit...I'm starting to prepare to record the next album. I'm finishing up the Webstar album, Roof Top right now. I will be putting out my next LP hopefully around Christmas time." (Artist Direct)
