T.I. Weighs In On Second Coming Of ATL Rappers

Self-proclaimed "King of the South" T.I. recently weighed in his thoughts on the new wave of Atlanta artists and their impact on the music industry.

The Southern-bred emcee sees the new talent as a sign of ATL's continued growth.

"I think they all represent different movements," Tip explained. "B.o.B. from Yung LA, they light years away. No pun intended. I think it's great that the city is still growing, that the movement is still alive and well. And it gives me great honor and pleasure to present so many of these acts and being responsible for the cultivating of their careers. (MTV)

With versatile artists on his Grand Hustle team like Young Dro and B.o.B., Tip's artist Yung LA is known for going outside the typical hip-hop boundaries.

"Each song will be different, I may be swag rapping, but I'ma hit you with bars too," Yung said in a recent interview about his debut album. "It's a new way of hip-hop and a new way to express it. There's nothing I can say that the next man hasn't said, it's just the way I say mine and the way I paint the same picture with different colors." (Yo Raps)

Aside from new artists, Tip recently spoke with SOHH about how he is preparing for his year-long jail sentence beginning this Friday, March 27.

"[I] focus on today and let tomorrow handle itself," he said. "That's all I can do. I don't have [to think about it.] I know it's there. It doesn't require any thought. I think about preparing myself financially making sure that everything is in place that I need it to be in order for the lifestyle of my family to continue in the way that it must." (SOHH Exclusive)

After being arrested in October 2007 on weapons charges, the rapper accepted a plea deal lowering his sentence.

T.I. received a deferred jail sentence of one year and one day followed by three years supervised release, plus 1,500 hours of community service and a $ 100,000 fine. Home confinement was also part of the deal, as well as completing 1,000 of the community-service hours before his jail time. (SOHH)
