Rating: 4 outta 5

Just like previous stars, Tip "T.I" Harris, crowned himself "King of the South." At the time, T.I. wasn't by any means big, but by the time everybody started calling him "The King," T.I. was. 'I'm Serious' gained what now all south artist do, generate such a large fanbase in your own area that nobody can not take a look or 2 at you. 'Trap Muzik' lead by lead single "24's" got T.I. on the mainstream map and then 'Urban Legend' with single "Bring 'Em Out," T.I. hit the scene.

Now with his fourth major album, "King," T.I. sticks another grand first single in "What You Know" with his distinctive flow, and catchy hook. While the first single get's you into 'King,' the album keeps it going. "Front Back" produced by Mannie Fresh, is a south themed west coast type joint. U.G.K.'s verse really solidify's the south feel. The anthem tracks don't stop here, with tracks "Ride With Me," "Top Back," "You Know Who," and "Bankhead" the PSC and Young Dro featured, melody driven banger that finishes off 'King' on a high note.

"Live In the Sky," "Goodlife," and "Hello" bring you closer to the man, not the street hustler, even though street hustle is reasons these verses were written. "Goodlife" would have been better though without Pharrell's weak hook, but Common's 16 keeps you attention long enough. While heartfelt tracks creep in, hustle tracks finish 'King.' Young Jeezy and B.G. come in to assist on "I'm Straight." Young Jeezy delievers a suprising desent lyrical verse. More know for his adlibs, Jeezy spits a pretty clean and to the point verse. "Undertaker" featuring Young Buck and Young Dro is on the hustle tip, but falls flat with some weak synth movement. "I'm Talkin' to You," the indirect diss to anybody that has a problem with T.I. The track directed at nobody in particular has T.I. getting his trademark smooth hook, and sharpe cutting bars at just about anybody with a problem with him.

While 'King' is a very strong album, T.I.'s guest appearance list could be shorten to allow himself to shine brighter. Also, 18 tracks makes 'King' a tad long especially with filler club tracks "Stand Up Guy" and "Get It" produced by Swizz Beats. Although barely falling, T.I.'s 'King' proves T.I. isn't just the king of the ATL, but "The King of the South." No southern artist spit's with T.I.'s ability. While flow can be sometimes hard to pick up with his southern slur, T.I. spits hard lyrics sometimes forgotten by southern artist's. As T.I. spits strong, no southern artist can rival him. Next T.I. needs to start looking at being king of the world of rap, not just the south.
